With over twenty-five years of experience, Don concentrates his practice in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Estate Litigation, Real Estate & Land Use, and Bankruptcy. He has served as legal counsel to a number of municipal zoning boards, where he developed an expertise in all phases of land development, both commercial and residential.
In the early stages of his career, Don filled a judicial clerkship in Middlesex County, New Jersey with two Superior Court judges. He then joined a Princeton law firm in 1983 and became a managing director of the firm and chair of its Litigation Practice Group. He served as special litigation counsel in a matter objecting to a large residential subdivision proposed by a national development firm. Don also served as special counsel to a Mercer County municipality in connection with a substantial retail development complex proposal. For several years, he was the Solicitor to the fastest growing municipality in Pennsylvania and Bucks County, during which time he was involved in complex litigation, collective bargaining agreements and all issues related to large scale residential development involving leading national and regional developers.
During the course of his litigation career, Don has served as lead or solo trial counsel in a number of complex and substantial matters in state, and federal courts in several jurisdictions. He has prosecuted matters on behalf of clients as plaintiffs, as well as defended his clients against substantial claims. Additionally, Don has tried products liability actions to substantial verdict; prosecuted a high profile sexual assault case involving the head of a religious institution; successfully litigated a nationally recognized thoroughbred horse trainer case to verdict with a punitive damage award; and defended a commercial fraud and civil racketeering case with related bankruptcy litigation.
Don has received Martindale-Hubbell’s "AV" peer review rating, which is its highest rating. He is a frequent speaker for the New Jersey Bar Foundation Speakers’ Bureau. In addition, Don is an active volunteer in the community, serving as director, trustee and general counsel to several YMCA’s and sitting as senior member of his local planning commission.
