DeStefano was a panelist for a Continuing Legal Education presentation on business succession planning for solo practitioners, small law firms, and small businesses during the Bucks County Bar Association’s 2026 Bench Bar Conference at Resorts World Catskills.
The CLE course, “Succession Planning for Small Firms & Businesses,” held Friday, September 18, focused on an overview and practical considerations of proposed Pennsylvania Rule of Professional Conduct 1.20, which, if enacted, would require lawyers in private practice and their respective firms to adopt and implement a formal, written succession plan. Other key points the panel addressed included legal and practical considerations involved in succession planning at the outset and transfer of business ownership for sole practitioners, small law firms, and small businesses in general. These considerations included drafting buy-sell provisions and agreements, structuring private practice sales and acquisitions, and transitionary considerations between the selling and acquiring private practice.
DeStefano served on the panel alongside the Honorable Brian T. McGuffin of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas, Jeffrey DiAmico, Esquire, and Kathleen Thomas, Esquire.
