Patty Collins' experience includes a mix of litigation and counseling in employment law and complex commercial litigation that benefits clients looking for practical advice and effective representation.  Patty is a successful negotiator who achieves optimal results, while protecting her clients' assets and interests.  With a particular strength in bringing clarity and perspective to the often complicated and stressful environment faced by parties to litigation or employment issues, Patty is a committed advocate and an invaluable resource.

Patty counsels clients in litigation regarding business disputes, business dissolutions and separations, partnership and shareholder disputes, noncompetes and restrictive covenants, nondisclosure and nonsolicitation agreements, commercial property disputes, and business torts.

Patty also advises small to medium-sized business clients and nonprofit entities on employment compliance and risk management issues. She represents employers and employees in litigation under federal and state discrimination and wrongful termination laws relating to restrictive covenants, unfair competition and unlawful use of trade secrets, and compliance with state and federal regulations.  Patty also assists employers and employees in preparing employment agreements, policies and handbooks.

As a trained mediator with extensive trial and negotiation experience, Patty assists parties in mediating their employment disputes.

Patty advises nonprofit social service providers, physician practices and other providers regarding compliance with federal and state regulations, and licensing issues.

Additional areas of her health care law experience include privacy issues, liability issues, federal and state regulations relating to credentialing, reimbursement, and treatment, and contracts among health care entities.

Patty is frequently invited to speak to employers about employment law, and provides training for their employees regarding state and federal regulations and best practices, and is a regular contributor to the Legal Intelligencer’s Litigation column (online edition) as well as the firm’s Litigation and Employment blogs.

Patty is active in community and youth activities.
